Sun Jung, a native of Korea, expressed a passion for the arts from a young age.  Growing up in the Korean countryside, Sun was known to alter her school clothing to reveal her individuality despite attending a staunchly conservative school system. Sun’s eye for fashion design would land her a position to study at the Sae Jan Fashion Institute of Pusan, Korea.  Thereafter, Sun worked for a time in Korea as a model before jumpstarting her own fashion line, “Forte,” in Jakarta Indonesia.

During her time living in Indonesia, Sun was fortunate enough to be able to travel throughout the world.  Travel exposed Sun to an influx of new art forms, cultures, styles, and influences which would eventually lead her to exchange her needle and thread for paintbrush and palate knife.  As she saw it, her art required no additional functionality and from then on, Sun was drawn to creating Artworks for Art’s sake.

Her work began mostly as a hobby, but has now matured into a passion; into something which she describes as “something that I must do.  It is a need which can never be fulfilled, but which I must constantly attempt to satisfy.”  She offers the beauty of such an unfulfilled desire.  Her palate knife molds the textures of sorrow, pain, and overwhelming delight that she captures through her paintings.
